MomsRising.org Invites Women to Send a Message to Both Presidential Candidates

Sunday August 17, 2008
MomsRising.org, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to awareness of a variety of women's political, business, and other issues affecting women at home and in the workplace.

MomsRising is a non-partisan organization that works on a state and national level. They have come up with a unique idea to present at both the Democratic and Republican conventions to show off the power of mothers, working women, and families.

The organization's website encourages women (and men) to: "Remind the pundits, the parties, the press, the people, and the candidates that families across our nation are struggling and need our attention, that nearly a quarter of families with children under age six are living in poverty, that a baby is born every 41 seconds without healthcare coverage, that too many parents can't afford adequate childcare, and that women's wages are still stuck way below the wages of men."

Their program, "The Power of the ONEsie," will take personalized, decorated ONEsies with a message at the two national conventions in Denver and in Minneapolis to "garner media attention, raise awareness, and prove to the candidates that real people care about these real issues."

If you would like to participate and send a personal message to both our presidential candidates, visit Mom's Rising to learn how to submit a ONEsie. If you are not interested in making you can still participate in other ways (see website for details).
