How did you make your video?
I worked with a professional editing company and used computer graphics to make the video demonstrate the science behind flying in easy-to-understand terms.
I took pictures and hired a company for the computer graphics. I also researched other peoples' videos to gauge the quality and popularity of aviation fear videos. I found videos that were funny or exciting were more engaging and enjoyed the most views. Also, videos with good titles did better than those with poor titles. I chose "Air Turbulence" as a title because it's a common fear shared by many. It takes only one bad experience with air turbulence for people to believe the many myths about flying. If you have a clear, basic understanding that turbulence is a natural state of the atmosphere and not something you should feel threatened by, you may start to have a more enjoyable travel experience.
Lessons Learned
- Quality is important! I also learned to provide good graphic illustrations to help people understand the material better.
Lahle Wolfe, Women in Business Guide, says:
Having just flown with a young child that was terrified of every noise and bump on a long flight, I know first-hand the importance of understanding what air turbulence is and that an air craft will not fall out of the sky when it hits a few "bumps." This video, created by a pilot with 22 years' experience, offers scientifically based information and reassurance, as well and useful travel tips including which planes will likely offer a smoother ride. I am not afraid to fly but I found the video very interesting and enjoyable - I learned a lot.
