What is the Survey of Business Owners?"

Every five years the U.S. Census Bureau conducts a nation-wide “Survey of Business Owners" (formerly referred to as surveys of minority- and women-owned business enterprises). This survey is conducted in conjunction with the economic census, and obtains information about: race, gender and other owner characteristics; business acquisition; and financing methods.

The last Survey of Business Owners for which information has been published by the U.S. Census Bureau was completed in 2002, with findings reported in 2006. The following articles contain information extracted from this survey:
