The following summarizes business and economic development grant programs available through the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA). Before you apply, be sure to check the MDA website for changes or updates about these grants.
- CDBG Program for Economic Development: Funding from this program can be used by municipalities and counties to assist with the location, expansion, or retention of businesses. Usage of the funds must be directly related to the construction, renovation, or expansion of industry.
- CDBG Loan for Economic Development: Funding from this program can be used by municipalities and counties to assist with the location or expansion of businesses. Usage of the funds must be directly related to the construction, renovation, or expansion of industry.
- CDBG for Emergency Projects: The Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) for emergency projects is a grant program that is available to fund publicly owned infrastructure for community based projects. Funding from this program can be used by municipalities and counties.
- CDBG for Public Facilities Projects: The Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) is a grant program that is available to fund publicly owned infrastructure for community based projects. Funding from this program can be used by municipalities and counties.
- CDBG for Self Help Projects: The Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) is a grant program that is available to fund publicly owned infrastructure for community based projects. Funding from this program can be used by municipalities and counties to help themselves. These municipalities and counties must show a 30% cost savings through donation, volunteer work, etc.
- Development Infrastructure Grant Program (DIP): The Development Infrastructure Grant Program (DIP) is a grant program that is available to fund publicly owned infrastructure. Funding from this program can be used by municipalities and counties to assist with the location or expansion of businesses. Usage of the funds must be directly related to the construction, renovation, or expansion of industry.
- Economic Development Highway Grant Program (EDH): The Economic Development Highway Grant Program (EDH) is a grant program that is available to fund publicly owned roads. Funding from this program can be used by municipalities and counties to assist with the location or expansion of businesses. Usage of the funds must be directly related to the construction, renovation, or expansion of industry.
- Emergency Shelter Grants Program (ESG): The Emergency Shelter Grants Program (ESG) provides grants to fund shelters for homeless individuals and families. Funding from this program can be used by municipalities and counties, as well as non-profit organizations approved by the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA).
- HOME Program for Homebuyer Assistance Projects: The Home Investment Partnerships Grant Program (HOME) for Homebuyer Assistance Projects is a grant program to provide assistance to credit worthy families that are purchasing a home. Funding from this program can be used by municipalities and counties, as well as Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs) to assist families.
- HOME Program for Rehabilitation / Reconstruction Projects: The Home Investment Partnerships Grant Program (HOME) for Homeowner Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Projects is a grant program that is available to provide assistance to families that are reconstructing or making major repairs to a home. Funding from this program can be used by municipalities and counties to assist eligible homeowners in making repairs to their homes to correct deficiencies in existing homes, or reconstruct their home because of the state of disrepair.
- HOME Program for New Construction Projects: The Home Investment Partnerships Grant Program (HOME) for New Construction of multi-family rental units is a grant program that is available to provide assistance to Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs) that are constructing multi-family housing units.
- Job Protection Grant Program: The Job Protection Grant Program is a grant program that is available to fund “at risk” industries that have been operating in the state for at least three years and that have lost jobs or are at risk to lose jobs because such jobs have been outsourced. “Outsourced” means Mississippi jobs are being lost and relocated to industries in foreign countries. Funding from this program can be used by “at risk” industries that retain jobs in Mississippi and improve productivity.
- MS Single Family Residential Housing Fund Program: The Mississippi Single Family Residential Housing Fund Program provides financing for the construction of low-to-moderate income single family residential housing units. The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) collaborates with the Mississippi Home Corporation (MHC) to administer this loan program.
- Small Municipal and Limited Population Counties Grant Program: The Small Municipal and Limited Population Counties Grant Program provides funds for publicly owned infrastructure for community based projects. Funding from this program can be used by small municipalities and counties to assist with public facilities and infrastructure needs.
- The Rural Impact Grant Fund: The Rural Impact Grant Fund (RIF) provides funding for publicly owned infrastructure needs. Funding from this program can be used by Rural Communities to assist with the location or expansion of businesses. Usage of the funds must be directly related to the construction, renovation or expansion of industry.
