Video Distribution and Automated Submission Services Compared

9 Video Distribution Services to Try - and Some to Avoid

By , About.com Guide

Here are ten video distribution and multiple video upload services and software applications (some free, some have user fees or membership requirements) compared.

Quick Tip: try TubeMogul, Hey! Spread, Mpoint, Video Optimize - but skip Traffic Geyser, ContentBuzz, and Video Wildfire.

1. TubeMogul.com

TubeMogul.com

Provides a single point for uploading your videos to reach top video sharing sites. Their free service level allows for unlimited storage, deployment of up to 100 videos per month, and free analytics on who, what, and how videos are being viewed.

Pricing: The free version has great features and is well worth trying. The pro version will cost you $500/month to upload (up to) 500 videos per month, but it also supports bigger file sizes for upload / file download / retreival, offers data export, and priority customer support.

Definitely Try.

2. Hey! Spread

HeySpread.com

Straightforward site, no high-pressure sales tactics. Uploads to Blip, Dailymotion, Facebook, Metacafe, Myspace, Photobucket, Sclipo, Veoh, Viddler, Vsocial, Yahoo, Youtube.

Pricing: Pay as you go. Purchase credits for $0.05 each. You must purchase a minimum of 1,000 credits ($50.00). Uploading one video to one source costs 1 credit. There are additional charges for watermarking videos, enabling and manually getting stats. This ala cart system allows you to purchase only the services you need when you need them.

Try.

3. Video Optimize

VideoOptimize.com

Information on this site is a little tedious to navigate - instead of text based answers, FAQs are provided in short video clips.

If you are looking for hands-on, customized attention, Video Optimize may be able to help you develop a successful viral video marketing campaign. This low-pressure sales site also offers free webinars to learn more about video marketing.

Prices: Pricing depends on your campaign and rates vary depending upon the competitiveness of the market and targets you select.

Try.

4. VidMetrix.com

VidMetrix.com

Standard servers delivers to seven social sites: YouTube, Google Video, Veoh, Myspace, Yahoo Video, Revver, and Metacafe, with options to upload/track across 50 video sites.

Includes analytics and reports via Email, RSS, Excel, and XML.

Note: VidMetrix is not currently accepting new client users as of 01/19/2010.

Try (when it opens again to new clients.)

5. Video Bot

Video Bot

Some of Video Bot's features include semi-automated account sign ups, support for approximately 113 video sites (be sure to edit out non-relevant sites your your videos could be rejected) but only five are "premium" sites. Bot also can post to some non-video sites.

There are many reported problems with time outs and errors in the software, but the automated account creation is a popular feature among users.

VideoBot is another product sold through affiliates - beware that "reviews" may actually be ads.

Price: $29.95 (one-time payment)

Possibly Try. (if you want to purchase your own software, this one is the cheapest - a less costly mistake if you decide to try something else.)

6. SENuke

SENuke

Upload to YouTube, Google Video, Blip TV, Daily Motion, Yahoo! Video, Veho + 45 other sites.

Pricing: Download free, but premium membership costs $47.00/month.

SENuke has been accused of using blackhat SEO strategies and making false claims through their aggressive multi-level marketing (MLM) tactics. Many of the SENuke reviews you read online are posted by MLMers who stand to gain financially if you click through and purchase SENuke.

Annoying Sales Pitches but Decent Features - Possibly Try Free Version (don't forget to cancel or you will be charged.)

7. Video Upload Pro

Video Pro Upload

Video Upload Pro is Windows software run from your own computer. While it is easy to use, the software does not provide analytical data - which I consider a major shortcoming. Another con is that the software currently only supports 18 sites. Also missing: video migration to transfer video directly across different sites.

Price: One-time purchase price of $95.00 (as of 01/19/2010.) Upgrades are free.

Don't Try.

8. Traffic Gyser

TrafficGeyser.com

Geyser supports fewer video sites than TubeMogul.com (which is free.) Not included in supported sites are Blip, Break, Crackle, Howcast, Metacafe, Yahoo! Video, Vimeo, and Viddler.

Perks include the ability to strip the audio out of a video to create podcasts (which can be uploaded via Geyser to several podcasting sites.) There are some basic tools creating videos using slides, but Windows Movie Maker does the job better and for free.

As with many other video service providers, Traffic Gyser is heavily promoted through affiliates who praise the company and make money directly when they can convince you to sign up.

Price: $97.00/month for service you can get for free elsewhere.

Don't Try.

9. ContentBuzz and Video Wildfire

ContentBuzz.com

Another affiliate program product where most of the "reviews" you see are posted by multi-level marketers who will make a buck off your purchase.

There are so many sites comparing ContentBuzz to other similar products posting incorrect pricing, features, and derogatory remarks about competitors, it is hard to discern the true value of the product.

Disclaimer: I have not tried this product so cannot rate its performance. It is my policy that if a product must sell itself my discrediting competitors, and disguising itself, I will not give it serious consideration.

Pricing: VideoWildFire.com ($19.99/month) is the scaled-down version of ContentBuzz ($29.97/month.)

Don't Try.
