Successful Business Tip: To establish and grow your business you need to communicate with customers, the media, and shareholders. Most businesses today have a website site even if they do not offer web-based services. Websites are a great way for people to find you and an inexpensive way for you to communicate with your customers and to advertise your business.

  1. Will you have a website? (Who will create the website and what software will you use, will it be purchased or free, public domain tools?)
  2. Will your website be a content management system, interactive website, or just for reference?
  3. Will you have a blog?
  4. Will you promote your business through social or professional networks? (If so, which ones?)
  5. Will you have an E-Commerce site? (What software will you use? What forms of payment will you take and what merchant accounts will you need to set up?)
  6. If you do not use E-commerce, what forms of payment will your business accept?
  7. Can your customers sign up for newsletters, specials, or product/business updates? (If so, how?)
  8. Will you have a press kit? A press kit is a simple way to provide uncopyrighted information (including logos, images, and corporate announcements) to the media and bloggers. Having a press kit in place makes it easier for you to get more publicity - the kind you want!
  9. Will you send out your own press releases? (If so, how will you disseminate them? What media contacts do you have?)
