What is the H.R. 2831: Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2007?
This is a proposed bill to amend: title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967; Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990; and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The main purpose of this Act is to clarify that “an unlawful to practice occurs each time compensation is paid pursuant to a discriminatory compensation decision or other practice, and for other purposes(1).”

Status of H.R. 2831: Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2007: This Bill was passed by the House July 31, 2007. This Bill was essentially signed into law under S. 181 Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 by President Barack Obama on January 29, 2009.
It was the first bill Obama signed into law during his presidency. S. 181 nullifies a U.S. Supreme Court decision in 2007 that made it more difficult for for workers to file complaints related to unequal pay.
