If you have a Twitter account check your email - and just in case, check your spam mail for an email from Twitter. On Friday Twitter announced on its blog that hackers had successfully stolen data from 250,000 Twitter accounts. As a precaution Twitter has changed passwords to all known, and potentially compromised accounts.
Twitter is not alone. Other recent attacks have been reported by two major media companies.
"The New York Times Co.reported on Jan. 30 that its computer network was attacked repeatedly by Chinese hackers. The Wall Street Journal also detailed similar attacks on its systems, while Bloomberg LP, the parent of Bloomberg News, said there have been unsuccessful attempts to infiltrate its network."
