The following excerpt is from a press release that came to my inbox yesterday. I get dozens and dozens of press releases each week from companies who would appreciate a shout out on my blog. But there is a reason I chose to excerpt this one: they get it. The social networking thing, I mean.
Companies talk about all sorts of things in press releases, but I have never seen one before give their own shout to their social networks. And, I approve.
"PLANO, Texas, Jan. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- TrainUp.com has recently launched their Facebook, Twitter (@trainuptweets) and Pinterest pages with Linkedin and Google+ pages in development. However, this isn't just another company simply seeking to promote its brand through social media. Instead, TrainUp.com will also offer businesses and individuals new resources for learning and personal development."
In a smart move, they have hired an expert to connect people to TrainUp.com's social presence and share their vision for social learning. Yes, this smart company has created an entire (important) position to "not only manage TrainUp.com's social presence but to also help evangelize the real benefits of social learning to our customers and the entire industry."
They get it. Do you?
I will keep saying it over and over until you hear my very important message: If you are not using social networking to brand and promote your business and simply relying on your stand-alone website -- you are really behind the times -- and, your competition.
