I wrote a review about an online merchant, Light In The Box. The company wrote to me, as well as posted replies in the readers review section. Because user comments were almost entirely negative, someone (we assume Light In The Box) took it upon themselves to post several hundred, glowing 5-star reviews -- from the same IP address. This person(s) continue to post fake reviews each day in an attempt to bring their rating up from a 1 to a 5.
I urge consumers to consider this: any company that will go to such extremes to devalue your opinions about their products and services should be highly suspect. Manipulating reviews is unethical.
Instead of having to create fake reviews to counter bad public opinion, I urge Light In The Box to take responsibility for complaints and simply address them rather than trying to cover them up.
We are in process of deleting the bogus positive reviews and urge you to disregard ALL positive reviews until we can sort through the fakes. This is a manual process, so may take time. In the meantime, we believe all 5-start posts published over the past several months, and positive reviews that continue to be published are most likely fake.
