Light In The Box Posting Fake Reviews To Boost Their Rating

By November 19, 2012

Follow me on:

I wrote a review about an online merchant, Light In The Box.  The company wrote to me, as well as posted replies in the readers review section.  Because user comments were almost entirely negative, someone (we assume Light In The Box) took it upon themselves to post several hundred, glowing 5-star reviews -- from the same IP address.  This person(s) continue to post fake reviews each day in an attempt to bring their rating up from a 1 to a 5.

I urge consumers to consider this:  any company that will go to such extremes to devalue your opinions about their products and services should be highly suspect.  Manipulating reviews is unethical.

Instead of having to create fake reviews to counter bad public opinion, I urge Light In The Box to take responsibility for complaints and simply address them rather than trying to cover them up.

We are in process of deleting the bogus positive reviews and urge you to disregard ALL positive reviews until we can sort through the fakes.  This is a manual process, so may take time.  In the meantime, we believe all 5-start posts published over the past several months, and positive reviews that continue to be published are most likely fake.

Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this site.

It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s difficult to get
that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appearance.
I must say you have done a very good job with this.
In addition, the blog loads super fast for me on Safari. Outstanding Blog!

I posted review explaining my bad experience with an IP camera they sell, they refused to post it. And they wouldn’t explain to me why my review deleted. Then to test them, I posted a good review about a different product, they posted it. :)

Notice also, some of their reviews are copied across other products.

Light In The Box appears to be a Chinese company, and such scams to their culture is normal and acceptable.

Beware of this Chinese online shop when you order dress from them. I once order dress in this online shop, but the dress turned out to be nothing like. If you are not afraid of online shopping , you can try Abbydress. At lease it is not fake.
