How to Create The Perfect Coupon
Designing coupons can be a fun way for you to show off your creative side. But there are some important features that all coupons should contain whether they are for products or services.
The right coupon campaign can bring in repeat business, attract new customers, and move merchandise cheaper than full-blow ad campaigns.
The main purpose of coupons is to draw in new customers who use the coupons and buy other items. And, hopefully, they will be customers who will return to your business even on days when they do not have coupons in hand. Learn How to Design Coupons to Attract More Customers.

My pet coupon peeve is too many exclusions and qualifications. Macy’s coupons have a full paragraph of exclusions. Typically their coupons can be used on sale and clearance items but not “specials” and “super buys.” Exactly what is the difference between a sale and a special?
Great question. Simple answer: choice of words. A sale and a special are really the same thing but use different words to draw in consumers. It is akin to walking into a super market and finding all the aisles rearranged to draw your attention to items you have not seen before.
I too, hate “noisy” coupons with multiple restrictions. I think they turn most consumers off.
